Make sure you have PostgreSQL installed (see
PostgreSQL installation
)
Run Start->All Programs->PostgreSQL 8.3->Application Stack Builder
Select your server on the following screen:
Click next:
Select Spatial Extensions and pick the latest PostGIS:
Pick your mirror site and await the download
The following screen appears:
Select I agree and click next until the installation finishes (you will need the db superuser password of the PostgreSQL installation!)
Run Start->All Programs->PostgreSQL 8.3->PG Admin III to verifiy your installation
Verify that you have 3 database instances : postgres, postgis and postgis_template
