PostGIS installation

  • Make sure you have PostgreSQL installed (see PostgreSQL installation)
  • Run Start->All Programs->PostgreSQL 8.3->Application Stack Builder
  • Select your server on the following screen:

  • Click next:

  • Select Spatial Extensions and pick the latest PostGIS:


  • Pick your mirror site and await the download
  • The following screen appears:

  • Select I agree and click next until the installation finishes (you will need the db superuser password of the PostgreSQL installation!)
  • Run Start->All Programs->PostgreSQL 8.3->PG Admin III to verifiy your installation
  • Verify that you have 3 database instances  : postgres, postgis and postgis_template
